Cette série utilise le format de repérage d'erreur : quatre segments d'une phrase sont repérés et l'un d'eux contient une préposition qui n'a rien à y faire. Ce format a disparu du TOEIC actuel, mais pas la compétence qu'il entraîne : balayer une phrase pour y trouver le seul élément qui cloche est précisément ce qu'exigent la partie 6 et les phrases à compléter.
